About Us

The Museum of Teaching and Learning (MOTAL) is a nonprofit museum based in Fullerton, California, dedicated to educating people about education through exhibitions, artifacts, articles, programs, and community outreach. Since 2007, MOTAL has created award-winning exhibitions that explore the history, experiences, policies, and practices that have shaped teaching and learning.

MOTAL offers engaging educational experiences designed for students, educators, families, researchers, and community members of all ages. Its growing collection of educational artifacts preserves the history of how people have learned and provides stories and resources for future generations.

The museum also develops traveling exhibitions that bring educational history and important community stories to museums, libraries, schools, universities, courthouses, and other venues. Exhibitions such as “A Class Action: The Grassroots Struggle for School Desegregation in California” explore important topics in education and civil rights, while “Two Roads, One Journey: Education in China and the United States” examines similarities and differences in educational experiences across cultures.
