About Us

Community Health Initiative of Orange County (CHIOC) is a trusted nonprofit organization dedicated to helping Orange County residents access affordable healthcare and essential social services. CHIOC connects children, families, and individuals with resources that support healthier, more stable lives through education, enrollment assistance, community outreach, and personalized guidance.

Serving communities throughout Orange County, CHIOC helps individuals navigate healthcare coverage options and available programs, including health insurance enrollment, benefits support, and connections to community resources. The organization works to reduce barriers related to language, access, and affordability by providing compassionate, culturally responsive assistance.

With a strong commitment to health equity and community partnerships, CHIOC supports residents in finding the care and services they need while helping create a healthier Orange County for everyone. Through trusted relationships, outreach efforts, and collaboration with local organizations, CHIOC continues to make healthcare and social support resources easier to understand and access.

Super Senior Saturday in Buena Park CHIOC Health Access Assisters joined Super Senior Saturday in Buena Park to connect older adults and families with information about health coverage, public benefits, and local resources. We are grateful for opportunities to meet community members where they are and help make access to care easier to navigate.

Healthcare Hero Honoree, Lestonnac Free Clinic At our 2025 Building a Legacy Celebration, CHIOC Board Chair Tamara Alvarez joined us in recognizing Lestonnac Free Clinic as a Healthcare Hero Honoree for their commitment to providing compassionate care to uninsured and underserved community member.
Northgate Markets award recognition CHIOC was honored to recognize Northgate Markets at our 2025 Building a Legacy Celebration for their continued commitment to community health and family well-being. Community event outreach CHIOC Health Access Assisters are out in the community helping residents learn about health coverage and public benefits, including Medi-Cal, Covered California, CalFresh, CalWORKs, General Relief, Medicare, the Medicare Savings Program, and Kaiser Permanente’s Community Health Care Program. Every conversation is an opportunity to connect someone with the care and resources they need.
7. El Mercadito Food Pantry at Santa Ana College CHIOC joined El Mercadito Food Pantry at Santa Ana College to provide health access education and connect community members with information about coverage and benefits. We are proud to partner with trusted community spaces to bring resources directly to Orange County residents.
