Description
Established in 1875, Centralia Elementary stands among California’s oldest school districts, with a distinguished history of educational leadership. In 1904, we pioneered free textbooks for all students. By 1957, we were the first in Orange County to introduce gifted classes at the elementary level. In 1963, our district launched the Reading Improvement Program, targeting underachieving readers—a program later televised and presented at the 1964 CESAA Conference in San Francisco. Centralia’s enduring legacy is one of innovation, vision and dedication to advancing public education.
