K-12 Education in a Covid-19 Environment: Challenges, Opportunities and Lessons Learned

Schools have had to adapt and change to accommodate teaching in a Covid-19 environment. Hear from Robert Pletka, Ed.D., Superintendent at Fullerton School District and Scott Scambray, Ed.D, Superintendent at Fullerton Joint Union High School District on how they have maintained quality education for students while adapting to new regulations required by local, state and federal restrictions. Dr. Scott Scambray was hired as Superintendent of Fullerton Joint Union High School District in Fullerton, California on July 1, 2015. Prior to coming to Fullerton, Dr. Scambray served as Superintendent at Merced Union High School District, California. Dr. Scambray also served as Principal at Rancho Verde High School and Assistant Superintendent of Testing and Accountability at Val Verde Unified School District in Moreno Valley, California. Dr. Scambray was a mathematics instructor in the Fresno Unified School District where he also coached football and basketball. Dr. Scambray earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from California State University, Fresno; a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from the University of San Francisco, California; a Tier II Professional Clear Administrative Credential Educational Administration from the United States International University, San Diego, California; and a Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership from the University of La Verne, California. Dr. Robert “Bob” Pletka, Superintendent at Fullerton School District
Dr. Robert Pletka has been in education for 30 years and has served as Superintendent of the Fullerton School District since 2012. He came to the District after serving as the Superintendent of El Centro Elementary School District.
He has authored two books, Educating the Net Generation: How to Engage Students in the 21st Century and My So-Called Digital Life
Pletka holds a Doctorate in Education degree in the joint program at the University of California, Irvine and California Polytechnic University; a Master's degree in Educational Technology was earned at National University and a Bachelor's degree in Communication from California State University, San Bernardino
