YMCA of Orange County Announces Indoor Reopening for Branch Gyms
YMCA of Orange County (YMCA OC) has announced plans to reopen the doors of branch gyms, due to the county’s move to the red tier in the state’s four-tier color-coded system for reopenings. YMCA OC Mission Viejo, Laguna Niguel, Newport Mesa and Fullerton locations will be offering both indoor and outdoor workout options beginning on March 23 and the Huntington Beach location will offer indoor only options beginning the same day.
The Y will now offer up to 90 minutes of care in the KidZone with no reservations needed. Lockers and showers will also be available with staggered usage to allow proper social distancing.
“With California meeting its goal to administer 2 million COVID-19 vaccines to residents and 13 counties moving to the red tier, we’re excited to announce this major reopening for our Y gym branches,” said Dolores Daly, COO of YMCA OC. “It’s great to be able to welcome our members back inside. We have been preparing for reopenings by upgrading Y gym lobbies and making changes for an enhanced member experience.”
As some of Orange County’s largest gymnasium facilities, YMCA OC has implemented health and safety protocols, including mask wearing when moving throughout the facility, maintaining six feet of physical distance, temperature checks and sanitizing equipment before and after each use. A reservation system has been implemented to ensure proper physical distancing, and reservations are required for Group Exercise Classes and Lap Swim.
