For five years Combat Paper has used the traditional hand papermaking process to facilitate inter-generational workshops with veterans, family, and members of the community. The uniforms that were once worn in service are transformed into handmade paper, prints and artwork. In this way, there is a shared understanding, dialogue and commemoration between veterans and the communities in which they live. This hands-on workshop will teach the entire process of how to transform your own clothing into paper art.
Participants are encouraged to bring in items of clothing or fabric, including military uniforms, which they would like to transform into paper. The instructor, artist Drew Cameron, will also bring fibers so bringing material is not a requirement to attend. In addition, any photographs, letters or materials from their service may also be brought along for inspiration.
This workshop is FREE for veterans and their families.
