Charles Dickens will be there. So will Jane Austen, Emily Bronte, and that chap known worldwide simply by his last name – Shakespeare.
These are just a few of the notable British authors who will be front and center at the Fullerton Main Library Tuesday, June 14, when university professor Lana Dalley presents a lecture on “Literary London.”
Dalley, assistant English professor at California State University, Fullerton, will discuss her experiences researching, writing and teaching in England, as well as provide tips on how to plan a London literary tour of your own.
Dalley, who earned her doctorate from the University of Washington in 2005, teaches courses on 19th-century British literature and culture, women’s writing, gender studies, history of the novel, and literature and film. She has published numerous articles and reviews in such journals as “Victorian Literature and Culture” and “Victorian Poetry.”
Dalley is currently working on a manuscript titled “Economic Woman: Gender, Genre and Political Economy in 19th-century Women’s Writing.” She is also co-editing a manuscript titled “Women and Economics in Victorian Culture.”
All lectures in the “Town and Gown” series are presented at 6:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at the Fullerton Main Library.
