(Fullerton, CA) – The Fullerton Arboretum will be hosting its annual “June Bloom” Perennial Plant Sale at The Potting Shed, located on the grounds of the Arboretum, June 11 & 12, 2011. For flower and garden enthusiasts, this Perennial Plant Sale promises to offer a huge selection of perennial flowering plants, at the perfect time of the year for planting.
Look for Coreopsis ‘Cherry Lemonade’ an herbaceous perennial with bright, feathery golden foliage and rich red flowers. Cherry Lemonade tickseed is a sight to behold and attracts butterflies and hummingbirds. This is a dwarf cultivar with early bloom and continuous flowering.
Also featured is Filigran Russian Sage. The foliage on this heat and drought-tolerant perennial is extremely dissected compared to the other Russian Sages, giving it a lacier textural appearance in the garden. The growth is also much more upright, combined with a longer flowering time and topped with the same dazzling, fuzzy, purple flowers.
Don’t miss Penstemon 'Firebird', a tough evergreen perennial that is one of the more vigorous and floriferous Penstemon hybrids. Growing to 3 feet tall it is covered from spring through fall in trumpet-shaped rich red flowers are that have some pale pink to white at the base of the throat. The flowers attract hummingbirds and butterflies into the garden.
Many other colorful and hardy perennials will be available including Achillea, Agastache, Arctotis, Asclepias, Bulbine, Centranthus, Cuphea, Dianthus, Euphorbia, Felicia, Geranium, Justicia, Pelargonium, Ruellia, Salvia and Veronica and more.
Established in 1979, the Fullerton Arboretum has served the community as a premier resource for ecological, horticultural and historical education.
