DESCRIPTION:Training Topics: Government Contracting\n\n\n\nDescription:\n\nOne way a company can gain an advantage when bidding on government contracts is through certifications that restrict competition to only certain types of businesses. There are several certifications at all levels of the government   federal\, state\, and local   and this FREE workshop will focus on certifications at the federal level through the Small Business Administration and the state level through the State of California\, presented by Brett Housholder\, Deputy Director from the San Diego Contracting Opportunities Center.\n\nYou will learn about the requirements\, qualifications\, and how to apply for the 8(a) Business Development Program. This program focuses on socially and economically disadvantaged businesses and is a unique certification that lasts for nine years and provides sole source opportunities (contracts that aren't competed) for 8(a) companies.\n\nIn addition\, the SBA provides three other certifications. The Woman-Owned Small Business certification\, the HUBZone certification for businesses located in geographic areas with above average unemployment and below average annual income\, and the Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business certification. The workshop will also cover requirements\, qualifications\, and information on how to apply for these certifications.\n\nAt the state level\, California now offers a Small Business certification\, a Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise certification\, and a new Small Business (for the purpose of Public Works) certification. Requirements\, qualifications\, and information on how to apply for these state level certifications will also be discussed.\n\nCost: Free\, but reservations required! Two hour parking permits are available to visitors and guests via the Park and Pay machines located at the CSUF Irvine Center. Park and Pay machines only accept Debit/Credit Cards. A CSUF Daily Permit is also available for guests and visitors for $8 and can be purchased online by creating an account at: https://csufparking.t2hosted.com/cmn/auth_guest.aspx.
