This program focuses on socially and economically disadvantaged businesses and is a unique certification that lasts for nine years and provides sole source opportunities (contracts that aren't competed) for 8(a) companies.\n\nIn addition\, the SBA provides three other certifications. The Woman-Owned Small Business certification\, the HUBZone certification for businesses located in geographic areas with above average unemployment and below average annual income\, and the Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business certification. The workshop will also cover requirements\, qualifications\, and information on how to apply for these certifications.\n\nAt the state level\, California now offers a Small Business certification\, a Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise certification\, and a new Small Business (for the purpose of Public Works) certification.
